Pico Laser Treatments

Skin type: All Skin Type

This tried-and-true laser employs "pigment-seeking technology" to detect hyperpigmentation or ink. The laser light energy is converted into brief, regulated pressure pulses that break down extra melanin and tattoo pigment into more easily absorbed particles, which are then taken away by the body's lymphatic system.

What is a picosecond laser?

A picosecond laser is a laser device that targets endogenous pigmentation and exogenous ink particles (tattoos) with very small pulse durations. The medium changes depending on whether the (Nd:YAG) crystal (532 nm or 1064 nm) or the Alexandrite crystal (755 nm) is employed.

Why choose a picosecond laser?

A picosecond laser destroys the target pigment while leaving healthy, normal tissue alone. This enables for the quick removal of the aberrant pigmentation while causing minimum collateral damage to surrounding tissue.

Picosecond lasers have also been used to treat melasma, Ota naevus, Ito naevus, minocycline-induced pigmentation, and solar lentigines

.

Some picosecond lasers feature fractionated hand parts, which aid in tissue remodeling and are used to treat acne scars, photoaging, and rhytids (wrinkles).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Picolaser treatment painful?

Compared to other laser treatments, pico laser is considered significantly more comfortable. Most patients have ranked it as a 2 out of 10 on the pain scale.

What Are The Potential Side Effects?

The most common side effect is lingering redness or swelling, which usually lasts no longer than 24 hours. Unwanted pigmentation associated with acne scarring is one possible side effect. If this happens, the scars will be slightly white during and after treatment, darken over the next day, and fall off after 2 to 5 days. This side effect is neither harmful nor common. Contact Dr. Qazi if you have any concerns or experience excessive discomfort following the procedure.

How many sessions will I require?

4-6 sessions (1 session every 2-4 weeks) with the picosecond laser are typically required to achieve a uniform skin tone, free of spots, and brightness.

The treatment's effectiveness is determined by a variety of factors, including the type of pigmentation, the area, size, and depth. As a result, the number of sessions and parameters used will be tailored to each patient.

What can I expect after Picolaser treatment?

Laser-toning for skin rejuvenation and brightening with a picosecond laser generally has no down time. However, the technician may use more aggressive settings for pigment removal treatment for pigmentation or tattoos. In such situations, it is common to have mild swelling and redness on the skin surrounding the tattoo or pigmented lesions, but this generally subsides after 30-60 minutes.
